The upcoming Season 7 update for Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown was revealed during Nacon's “News from the Pits” presentation.
Season 7 begins on September 2 and focuses in particular on Japanese vehicles – a region that has so far been underrepresented. A total of six new vehicles expand the existing lineup.
The new vehicles in the seventh season include the previously confirmed Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV, which is making its debut in Solar Crown. The Skyline R34 is unlocked by reaching Level 15 of the Solar Pass, while the Lancer Evolution is a reward for Level 50.
In addition, the recently announced Mazda RX-7 FD3S, which will be available at the dealership, and the Nissan 370Z Nismo will be introduced. The latter can be unlocked as a reward for the first tier of the Solar Pass. Like Mitsubishi, Mazda is also making its debut in Solar Crown.
The lineup is rounded out by the BMW M3 GT3 EVO and the custom-designed Volkswagen Beetle Buggy Holiday Edition. Both vehicles are available exclusively in the online shop.
In addition to the new vehicles, Season 7 includes several improvements intended to enhance the overall gameplay experience. These include a new tab for live events, providing more convenient access to daily and seasonal challenges as well as reward redemption.
It will also become possible to remove the spoilers from selected vehicles, including the Lotus Exige, Mazda RX-7, Nissan Skyline R34, Nissan Skyline R35, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV, and Audi TT RS.
In addition, the tire grip of the hypercars will be adjusted to ensure more “consistent” driving physics. This was demonstrated during the presentation with a drive in the Koenigsegg Agera RS. The race track on Hong Kong Island will also be expanded with a pit lane as well as 3D-modeled speed cameras and checkpoints.
As part of a mid-season update scheduled to arrive after the September launch, the option to change wheel sizes will also be introduced. New chase cameras from the third-person perspective will be added as well. Furthermore, a “major partnership” was announced, with more information to be published in the Solar Club Bulletin in October.
The original plan was to introduce the “Official Racing Centre” in Season 7. This is a new meeting place where players can gather and take part in online races. However, its introduction has been postponed because, following Nacon's insolvency and the associated job cuts at KT Racing, the team is prioritizing the development of houses for Season 8.
