Players have by now grown accustomed to updates at the end of a month, as the overwhelming majority of GT7's 35 content updates were released in the final week of a month, although not every month included an update. Only a few updates have taken place outside this regular timeframe, and there are many indications that this will also be the case in March 2026.
As usual, the game's creator published a teaser post on social media ahead of the update, presenting the new vehicles — and only the new vehicles — in heavily camouflaged form. Like in the recent past, this latest teaser shows the vehicles with covers to conceal their identities and encourage the usual guessing game.
This approach is proving quite effective, because although the general shape of the three vehicles is recognizable, determining exactly what is beneath the covers is proving difficult.
This time, we'll start with the rear, as Polyphony Digital is expanding GT7's lineup of crossover SUVs. This confirms a rumor that has been circulating on the forums for some time, as the vehicle beneath the cover appears to be the second-generation Renault Captur. It could be the only slightly different Mitsubishi ASX from the same period, but there are more clues pointing to the Captur.
This Clio-based vehicle will be a direct competitor to the Peugeot 2008, which was added in June last year with Update 1.60. However, the image does not reveal what specifications or powertrain options it will have. The original is available in gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid variants, so we'll have to wait for more information.
The outlines of the other two vehicles are also clearer, but there are numerous possibilities here as well. On the right, an FD-generation Mazda RX-7 is clearly visible, but this vehicle exists in so many variants — one of which is already in the game — that identifying it definitively through the covers is difficult. We suspect that the clean lines and small rear spoiler point to the original RX-7 Type R, which appeared in all numbered GT games except GT3, in which no “Series 6” version of the FD model was included.
The final vehicle in the trio is obviously a classic Chevrolet Camaro, but more precise details are difficult to determine. There have been several Camaro models throughout the Gran Turismo series, most of which are possible candidates without taking other variants into account.
The only one we can rule out is the 1969 Z28, as it is already present in the game. It could either be another regular road model, such as the SS 350, which was last seen in GT6, or a considerably sportier model. We know that Polyphony Digital has recently been looking to the now-discontinued SEMA GT Awards (even if the recent hint at the HPA TT may have been misleading), and there is one candidate among the winners: the 2010 Stielow Red Devil.
Alternatively, there is also speculation that this could be the return of an “RM” model. These models represented the race-ready vehicles from the original PlayStation 1 titles in GT5 and GT6 and were essentially stripped-down versions of road cars. The recently released Power Pack DLC included six relatively similar vehicles, so it would be interesting to see whether this is also expanded to the base game.
As usual, this is merely the first phase of an information cycle for updates, in which only the three vehicles have been hinted at. We will not find out what other content — such as races, Menu Books, engine swaps, liveries, scapes, and so on — will be included until shortly before the release date.
This is expected to take place on Thursday, March 12, at around 08:00. However, since this update is not arriving at the usual time, we should not rule out an alternative time.
