Changelog iRacing 2024 Season 3
Legacy Membersite
- The Legacy Membersite (the classic and original members.iracing.com) has received an overhaul with the 2024 Season 3 Release. Functionality has been updated to focus entirely on Account Management and Support. From here, you can also launch iRacing WEB, the iRacing interface that operates within a Web Browser window and has extensive functionality.
- The Login page now authenticates using the same method used by the iRacing application for improved consistency.
- You can still download the iRacing software from this page.
- Any bookmarks saved for the existing Legacy Membersite will automatically launch iRacing WEB and take you to the same place.
iRacing WEB
- While using iRacing WEB, the URL displayed for the page now dynamically updates. For example, you can copy and paste Race Results or Series Info to a friend.
New Racer Onboarding
- A new third path, Sports Car, has been added to the New Racer Onboarding!
- – – Members may now select from any asphalt racing disciplines for their intro to iRacing.
- – – As part of this change, the Global Mazda MX-5 Cup is now REQUIRED content to download.
- As an existing Member, you can re-run the New Racer Onboarding by resetting the option in your Settings.
General
- Colors and height of the window title bar have been updated.
Local Service
- The “_useipv6.txt” and “_usesteam.txt” files have been moved to the Member’s AppCache directory (%LOCALAPPDATA%\<dir>).
- – – We have also updated the process for searching your file structure to find a few important files, including: the “/update” folder, the “_useipv6.txt” file, and the “_useSteam.txt” file. This should improve consistency when launching iRacing.
Time Attack
- Fixed an issue where Time Attack would not launch because another SIM process was already running. Now, only one instance of iRacing will be launched.
AI Racing
- The AI Racing Series page is now divided into a top and bottom section. The top section displays AI Series that you are currently running (My Seasons), while the bottom section displays an array of Official iRacing AI Season Templates. You can select to copy and start running in any of these Official Templates or make adjustments to make it your own. Once you begin running an Official Template, it will appear in the My Seasons section.
- – – The Official iRacing AI Season Templates will always remain at the bottom as a resource for you, and we have plans to expand these offerings. With 2024 Season 3, there are six Official iRacing AI Season Templates.
- Fixed an issue where attempting to Create or Delete an AI Season does not apply the selected action.
Stats
- The Stats page now includes a new third tab, Driver Leaderboard.
- Driver Leaderboard is a searchable database of ALL Drivers on iRacing.
- – – You can search by Driver Name and see a wealth of knowledge about drivers.
- – – You can take related actions with the drivers displayed, such as adding them as a Friend.
- Team Series Stats are now available!
Results
- Three long-requested features have finally arrived in the Results screen for events: the iRacing Event Log, Lap Graph, and Lap Chart!
- – – The iRacing Event Log displays a detailed table of all race control events that occurred during the event.
- – – The Lap Graph displays the event’s progression and key data in a graphical form.
- – – The Lap Chart displays the event’s progression and key data in a highly detailed chart.
- – – – – Events longer than 100 Laps must be downloaded as a .CSV file – they will not appear in a user-friendly state.
Store
- A new “First Purchase” discount of 10% is now automatically applied to a Member’s very first full-price content purchase.
- – – Content purchases include car(s) and/or track(s). If a Member’s first purchase earns a greater discount, then the greater discount amount is used instead of this one-time-only 10% discount.
Car Classes
- The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R and Ford Mustang GT3 have been added to the IMSA23 and GT3 car classes. The Ford GT GT3 car has been removed from the GT3 class.

- – – Ligier JS P320
- – – Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992)
- Race Control Related Improvements & Adjustments:
- – – The algorithm that determines if the track is wet or dry has been updated to better account for the current and trend in rainfall rate. This helps Race Control call the track dry faster once the rain has stopped and the track has dried out enough, and also call the Session wet a bit later if the rainfall is light, or sooner if it is raining hard.
- – – The threshold for transitioning from “wet” to “dry” session has been reduced. This change governs rain rules and the usage of rain lights – the system should also err on the side of caution and not make the call too early.
- Tire Related Improvements & Adjustments::
- – – Adjusted how wet gravel and sand operate with tires to reduce the hopping effect that can occur at speed.
- – – Water spray displacement has been updated to match visual particles better.
- – – The algorithm for car tires clearing water from their paths has been updated slightly.
- Rain Calculation Related Improvements & Adjustments:
- – – The maximum allowable rainfall rate for all weather types (Static, Realistic, and Timeline) has been marginally reduced. This will be the new maximum rainfall rate. This change is in accordance with tire development to improve the overall rain racing experience.
- – – Some algorithms for updating the dynamic track state based on weather conditions have been updated.
- Wet Track Related Improvements & Adjustments:
- – – Calculations for determining water content off of the racing surface have been improved, which will particularly improve tire interaction on drying tracks.
- – – Adjusted the code which manages the track surface parameter changes between Sessions (such as Qual to Race) to better account for the time change and weather changes over that time.
- Graphics Related Improvements & Adjustments:
- – – Rain spray particle counts have been optimized for various viewing distances.
- – – Increased the maximum angle for rainfall based on camera velocity.
- – – Windshield rain particle effects and textures have been updated.
- – – Windshield condensation textures have been updated.
- – – Raindrop textures have been updated.

- Bug Fixes:
- – – Fixed an issue where some cars could end up with a mix of rain tires and dry tires due to poorly timed pit commands by the driver.
- – – Fixed an issue where the wind direction could have loaded incorrectly in Replays.
- – – Fixed some inconsistencies that could occur when weather parameters were transitioned across Sessions within the same event.
- – – Rainfall is now appropriately blocked from falling onto surfaces underneath bridges and overpasses.
Tires
- The method by which tires detect the wetness of off-track surfaces has been adjusted to fix an issue where tires dipped in gravel or sand were producing unrealistic spikes in tire pressure.
- Reduced the effects differences in tire pressure and temperature have on how tires react to entering gravel and sand surfaces.
- For opponent cars, an issue was fixed where sometimes the tire compound in use was displayed incorrectly.
- Fixed an issue where wheelspin on wet and soft surfaces raised tire temperatures dramatically.
Oval Racing
- As part of the Oval Refresh Project, some asphalt oval track surface parameters have been tuned.
- Some extremely minor heat and grip adjustments have been made to oval racing track surfaces.
Dirt Racing
- The tire wear rate for dirt tires has been reduced by about 25%.

- Upon the global sunsetting of the GTE spec at the end of the 2023 racing season, Chevrolet’s Corvette C8.R would require a successor to be built under GT3 specifications. Enter the Z06 GT3.R, which would also see the brand pivot from a direct factory-backed Corvette Racing program to numerous customer teams—although the same Pratt Miller Motorsports group that led the factory GTE effort remains a key part of the racing efforts. The Z06 GT3.R shares plenty with the C8.R it replaces, most notably the 5.5-liter LT6-based V8 engine. The car took its first IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship podium in the GTD Pro class at Laguna Seca in spring 2024, with Nicky Catsburg and Tommy Milner teaming up to finish third in class. More wins and podiums are sure to follow as the Z06 GT3.R builds upon the Corvette’s extensive history of sports car racing success.

- The seventh-generation Ford Mustang has been the linchpin of Ford’s modern motorsport efforts around the world, from the NASCAR Cup Series to Australia’s Supercars series. It was no surprise, then, when the Blue Oval revealed that it would return to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for the first time since 2019 with the Mustang GT3, based on the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse model. The Ford Mustang GT3 is powered by a 5.4-liter, naturally aspirated Ford Coyote V8 engine. Built and campaigned by Multimatic in the GTD Pro class, and run as a customer car by Proton Competition in both GTD and international GT3 series, the car also marks the first time since 1997 that a Mustang will compete at Le Mans. With past Le Mans winners like Mike Rockenfeller and Joey Hand drafted in to run with Ford’s factory IMSA program, expectations are high as the brand writes the next chapter of the Mustang’s racing legacy.

Street Stock – Casino & Eagle
- NEW CARS!
- – – A pair of new asphalt oval Sports Cars, Street Stock – Casino, and Street Stock – Eagle, are now available for purchase and racing!
- When it comes to grass-roots racing, it doesn’t get any more “rooted” than Street Stocks. Although there are (nearly) as many different variations on Street Stock rules as there are quarter- and half-mile race tracks around America, the common thread is the use of an older American street car as the basis of the Street Stock race car. Depending on the race track and its rules (and your budget), Street Stocks range from little more than a street car with its interior gutted, its windows removed and a rudimentary roll cage to a full-on race car with a highly-tuned engine, upgraded suspension and plastic bodywork conforming to the shape of the original street car. (iRacing’s Street Stock is built to the full-on race car rules). Regardless of the specific rules, turning a street car into a Street Stock is not only less expensive than buying a purpose-built race car, the process of building a race car from a street car helps wanna-be race drivers and mechanics learn the fundamentals of race car construction, maintenance and setups. And learning is what it’s all about, for Street Stocks is the class to learn the basics of stock car racing.
- The New Damage Model is enabled for both of these cars!
- AI Drivers are ready for racing with both of these cars!

Oswego Speedway
- NEW TRACK!
- Oswego Speedway is an asphalt Oval track.
- Known as “The Steel Palace,” Oswego, New York’s Oswego Speedway may be best known for its Supermodified events. Besides hosting major touring series, it’s also the last track in the world to run Supermodifieds as part of its weekly races. Still, there’s much more to Oswego than that—from frequent spots on touring modified, late model, and other open wheel series, to its annual dirt conversion for Super DIRT Week and the Big Block Modifieds of the Super DIRTcar Series, few ovals in America host such a diverse racing program. Oswego’s conversion from racing horses to racing cars began in 1951, when the track was converted to a 3/8 mile dirt track. That layout was paved the next year and remained as such until 1961, when it was lengthened to its current 5/8 mile configuration, although a 3/8 mile Mini Oval is still accessible. Oswego began hosting Super DIRT Week in the fall of 2016 and has undergone an annual makeover each year since.

Sachsenring
- NEW TRACK!

The original Sachsenring circuit spanned more than five miles through public roads, but stopped hosting races in 1990. The modern layout began to take shape in the mid-1990s. After the unification of West and East Germany, a new permanent facility was constructed, and the track received multiple tweaks until settling into its current form in 2003. The modern Sachsenring runs for 2.281 miles with 13 turns. The first, the Coca-Cola Kurve, sends drivers into a rapid-fire set of six round and sweeping corners. After Turn 6, the track begins to open up with more gradual curves until a tight final corner sends drivers back onto the frontstretch.
