Mit der Version 0.8 rückt Assetto Corsa EVO dem geplanten Erscheinen der finalen Version 1.0 einen weiteren Schritt näher.
Das heute veröffentlichte Early-Access-Update umfasst die Rennstrecke von Kyalami sowie drei neue Fahrzeuge: den KTM X-Bow GT2, den KTM X-Bow GT4 und den Volkswagen Golf R Mk8.
Von besonderer Bedeutung ist zudem eine vielfach hervorgehobene Verbesserung der Virtual-Reality-Leistung. So konnte festgestellt werden, dass die Option „Foveated Rendering“ zu einem flüssigeren VR-Rennerlebnis führt.
Dies ist jedoch nicht die einzige leistungsbezogene Optimierung: Ergänzt wurden außerdem „verbesserte VRAM-Meldungen“ sowie „Supersampling und verbessertes Windschutzscheiben-Rendering“. Auch wenn diese Anpassungen sehr technisch anmuten, gibt der Entwickler Kunos Simulazioni an, dass sie in der Praxis zu spürbaren Leistungssteigerungen auf dem Bildschirm führen.
Das Update im Juni markierte den Beginn der Entwicklung von Fahrzeug-Modifikationen (Mods). An diese Grundlage knüpft das aktuelle Update an: Von der Community erstellte Fahrzeuge können nun im Mehrspielermodus eingesetzt werden, zudem besteht die Möglichkeit, innerhalb des externen Mod-SDK eigene Lackierungen zu entwerfen.
