Sim racing game RENNSPORT has provided a first look at the second of a total of three vehicles that are set to be added as part of an upcoming DLC pack.
The BMW M1 Procar can be seen in a dramatically shadowy video captioned "A true professional".
The Procar was based on the road-legal M1, a mid-engined supercar partially developed by Lamborghini, and was intended as the regular racing version for Group 4. However, due to a rule change, BMW no longer had a racing series in which the new race car could compete.
The company then launched its own "one-make series." In 1979 and 1980, a field of M1 Procar cars competed there. BMW managed to attract several major names from motorsport to the competition; Niki Lauda and Nelson Piquet won the two championship titles.
All vehicles were technically identically equipped: with a 470-hp inline six-cylinder engine that delivered its power at an impressive 9,000 rpm, as well as a distinctive aerodynamic kit with large, flared wheel arches and an oversized rear wing.
The BMW M1 Procar will be part of the "Kings of the Ring" DLC pack announced for September. It is also set to include major improvements to the usability of single-player opponents and the force feedback system for steering wheels.
The DLC pack will contain three vehicles as well as the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit layout, excluding the GP and 24-hour configurations. Owners of the Deluxe Edition will receive the content at no additional cost. Earlier this week, the KTM X-Bow GT2 was also confirmed for the pack, meaning one more vehicle still needs to be announced.
