RENNSPORT is planning to release a major update in September. In addition to new content, the patch titled “Kings of the Ring” is intended primarily to improve the user experience of the cross-platform sim racing game.
Changes to the AI and Force Feedback
One of RENNSPORT’s fundamental weaknesses at present is the offline single-player experience, which is impaired by significant shortcomings among the AI-controlled opponents.
Unpredictable rollovers, inconsistent pace and unusual behavior were already evident at the time of release. Although improvements have been implemented since then, there is still considerable room for optimization.
According to the developers, the upcoming update is intended to create a “robust, reliable new foundation” and eliminate “serious cases of unpredictable behavior.” This is intended to resolve key problems with the single-player experience.
The work is expected to continue even after the September update. Publisher Competition Company has committed additional resources to the AI team for this purpose.
In addition, Force Feedback is to be optimized in the upcoming version. The focus is particularly on the response, which has so far been “too gentle” on Logitech devices. This is intended to mark the beginning of further Force Feedback improvements in subsequent releases.
New Paid Content
As the name of the update already suggests, “Kings of the Ring” will include the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Since this track is already part of the Deluxe Edition of Rennsport, the question arises as to how it will be released with the new DLC. Initially, it was unclear whether only the “Green Hell” would be made available to all players or whether a slightly modified track layout would be offered. Rennsport was asked to provide clarification.
RENNSPORT has since explained that the Deluxe Edition contains the Nürburgring’s combined 24-hour endurance layout. “Kings of the Ring,” on the other hand, will include the complete Nordschleife layout. Owners of the Deluxe Edition and the DLC will gain access to both track layouts as well as all vehicles included in the DLC.
In addition, three more vehicles will be released as part of a paid DLC package. Their identities have not yet been revealed. In this context, it is noteworthy that the KTM X-BOW GT2 was announced at the beginning of the year but has still not been released. RENNSPORT has also announced that a “major car manufacturer” will be unveiled later in the year at the SimRacing Expo in Frankfurt.
At the same event in October, “ambitious goals for RENNSPORT for the rest of the year” are also to be presented. It was further announced that plans for additional community-created mod tracks have been put on hold for the time being while the team focuses on the “core gameplay experience.”
