It has now been 59 days since the last update for „Gran Turismo 7“. This update added four modern racing hypercars as well as another 911 safety car to the game.
As part of the next vehicle expansion, four so-called „niche vehicles“ will be added, as series producer Kazunori Yamauchi refers to them.
According to the published teaser image, all of the new additions appear to be road cars. The models currently expected are examined in more detail below.
Gran Turismo 7 – These vehicles are expected for the August 2026 update
- Hyundai Ioniq 6 N
- Caterham Seven
- Toyota Mark II Tourer V
- Toyota Chaser Tourer V
Hyundai Ioniq 6 N
„Gran Turismo“ and Korean automaker Hyundai have a close partnership. Last year, the Elantra N TCR was unveiled in Japan during the „Gran Turismo World Series“ world finals. The electric crossover Ioniq 5 N had already been added to the game beforehand.
This time, there are many indications that the aerodynamically styled Hyundai Ioniq 6 N will be integrated into „Gran Turismo 7“.
The Ioniq 6 N is based on the same technical architecture as the Ioniq 5 N and features simulated gear changes. However, this function has not yet been implemented for the Ioniq 5 N in „Gran Turismo 7“.
Regardless, the vehicle impresses with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in around 3.2 seconds. Two electric motors with a combined output of 640 hp are responsible for this.
Caterham Seven
Anyone who does not yet consider the electric sedan unusual enough may find a particularly distinctive alternative in the Caterham Seven. The two-seater sports car comes from the city of the same name in Surrey.
Its distinctive „bug-eye“ front is clearly recognizable despite the dark fabric cover in the teaser image. The British high-performance vehicle is known for its high agility and direct driving experience, shaped in particular by its low weight and direct steering.
The Caterham Seven was offered in a wide variety of different versions. Almost all variants are characterized by sporty performance. The Seven 160 and 170 models are exceptions, as they were equipped with a 660 cc kei-car engine from Suzuki.
For the brand, this would mark its return to the „Gran Turismo“ series since the Caterham Fireblade, which was already featured in „Gran Turismo 4“, „Gran Turismo 5“, and „Gran Turismo 6“.
Toyota X100 sedans
Two JDM icons can be identified on the right side of the teaser image. Both are based on the Toyota X100 platform and are powered by a 1JZ inline-six engine: the Toyota Mark II Tourer V and the Toyota Chaser Tourer V.
Thanks to their front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, these vehicles were considered relatively affordable used cars with powerful engines in the 2000s. At the same time, they provided an excellent foundation for tuning and modification projects. It remains to be hoped that extensive GT Auto options will be available in „Gran Turismo 7“ and that the engines can be upgraded to more than 600 hp when they are introduced.
