- RaceRoom offers a first glimpse at historic Mini and Abarth models that are set to compete alongside the NSU TTS in a new historic class.
- Further details are expected to be announced later this week in an episode of “Grid Talk” and at the SimRacing Expo in Frankfurt.
RaceRoom has released a teaser image that apparently shows a classic Mini Cooper and a Fiat Abarth 695 Esse Esse.
Although only a brief glimpse of both vehicles has been shown so far, their distinctive silhouettes are unmistakable. Both models are set to compete in the same class as the NSU TTS, which is already included in RaceRoom. This corresponds to a project that developer KW Studios had already announced.
“The NSU TTS is a small race car that is very popular in RaceRoom. So far, however, it has been a class of one,” explained Christian Baur, Director of Strategy and Sales.
“We are currently working on two small ‘brothers’ for this vehicle so that it is no longer alone. In the foreseeable future, we will be able to create a dedicated vehicle class around the NSU TTS,” he added.
The Mini is a compact British automotive icon. Its front-wheel drive and front-heavy weight distribution helped turn it into a motorsport legend that could defeat even significantly more powerful vehicles. The Abarth also competed far above its weight class in racing. Its distinctive rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive design resulted in completely different handling characteristics. In addition, the engine cover had to remain open for cooling.
In addition to the German hill climb “Glasbachrennen,” further vehicles have been announced, including new super touring cars as well as LMP2 and LMP3 class vehicles. A French “cup car” is also set to be unveiled. These models could be shown later this week in an episode of the “Grid Talk” podcast scheduled for October 16.
