- Forza Horizon 6 remains on track for a 2026 release on PlayStation 5.
- Playground Games confirmed this in its latest developer blog.
In its latest developer blog about Forza Horizon 6, Playground Games introduced numerous new British-themed vehicles as part of the upcoming “British Automotive” update.
The vehicles in the current Festival Playlist include the Bentley Continental GT Speed, the 2019 Ginetta G40 Junior, and the 2006 Vauxhall Astra VXR. In addition, the new “Drift Attack” mode will become a permanent part of the open-world racing game set in Japan.
The developer blog also contained an important message for PlayStation 5 owners: The release of Forza Horizon 6 on Sony’s console is still scheduled to take place in 2026.
An official statement read: “If you’re planning your journey to ‘Discover Japan’ on PlayStation 5, please stay tuned. Forza Horizon 6 is coming to PS5 this year. You can add the game to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store to be notified as soon as it becomes available.”
Following its release on PC and Xbox, Forza Horizon 6 was expected to launch on PlayStation 5 at a later, as-yet unspecified point in 2026. However, this plan was called into question after new Xbox chief Asha Sharma stated in an interview with Bloomberg in June that a platform needed to have exclusive content and services.
The subsequent lack of further information on the matter fueled speculation that the PS5 port of Forza Horizon 6 might have been delayed. Today’s announcement has dispelled these fears, however. With the release of Grand Theft Auto VI in November expected to attract significant attention, the focus now turns to the specific release window for Forza Horizon 6 on PlayStation 5.
With a view to maximizing revenue, a release before GTA VI would presumably make sense. This could indicate that a corresponding announcement is imminent—possibly even before the Tokyo Game Show, which takes place from September 17 to 21.
