- The Caterham 420R, Caterham Academy, and Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH hypercar will be introduced to iRacing with the “Season 4 2026” build.
- The single-player career mode is nearing completion.
- Road America, Mid-Ohio, and the Milwaukee Mile will receive new laser-scanned versions.
Greg Hill, Senior Vice President and Executive Producer of iRacing, published another detailed developer blog today. In it, he explained which new features drivers can expect with the upcoming “Season 4 2026” version of the simulation.
One of the standout additions will be the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH, whose distinctive V12 engine sound will soon also be heard in iRacing.
Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH Hypercar
According to Hill, the Aston Martin has been in development for more than a year. The vehicle was recreated based on real-world telemetry and engineering data.
Following its introduction in September, the Valkyrie will join the simulation’s GTP class alongside the Ferrari 499P, Acura ARX-06 LMDH, BMW M Hybrid V8, Cadillac V-Series.R, and Porsche 963 LMDH.
Caterham Academy and Caterham 420R
In addition to the Aston Martin, two Caterham models will be added to iRacing: the Caterham 420R and the Caterham Academy. Since the British brand is already represented in the sister title iRacing Arcade, its introduction to iRacing was foreseeable. The Lotus 7-inspired sports cars are likely to attract considerable interest from subscribers.
Both vehicles will be offered as a combined package. The Caterham Academy is designed as an entry-level race car with an output of 130 bhp. The 420R, on the other hand, produces more than 200 bhp and propels its lightweight 635 kg chassis through corners at correspondingly high speeds. This makes it the sportier variant.
Both vehicles are part of an extensive Caterham motorsport package for Great Britain. This includes separate racing series for the Academy, Roadsport, 270R, 310R, and the top 420R models.
Vehicle Updates
The Mazda MX-5 and the Asphalt Sprint Car will receive extensive, fully reworked updates in Season 4. In addition, the Gen-4 Grand National stock car will be added to the “[Legacy] ARCA Menards Chevrolet and Gen-4 Cup” package. Existing owners will receive this upgrade free of charge.
Track Updates
Road America, the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and the Milwaukee Mile were scanned again using laser technology and will be updated for Season 4. Road America will also receive two additional track configurations, “East” and “West,” which will be available free of charge to owners of the existing track.
Summit Point Raceway, including the Jefferson Circuit, and Road Atlanta have also received extensive graphical overhauls.
Further Features
iRacing will receive several physics updates in September. Safety cars for various classes will also be introduced in a limited soft launch. This feature will initially be available only on selected tracks, which have yet to be announced.
The still-in-development sim UI system will also be revised. Planned features include a clearer pit stop overview window and a damage widget that precisely shows where the vehicle has been damaged. The presentation is intended to resemble BeamNG.drive.
In addition, new smoke visualizations will make burnouts appear more voluminous in the future.
Career and Graphics
The career mode and the simulation’s new graphics engine are still in development. However, significant progress has been made on the career mode.
Hill explained that, apart from a few outstanding bug fixes, the career mode is largely complete. He also revealed important information about how content is intended to be unlocked in the future.
Outlook
The “Track Reverb” feature is nearing release, but is not expected to be completed in time for the start of Season 4. Hill also confirmed that Circuit Bugatti at Le Mans was successfully laser-scanned. Next, the graphics team will turn its attention to Circuit Paul Armagnac in Nogaro and Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia.
Circuit Paul Ricard and Winchester Speedway are considerably closer to release. Both tracks could be unveiled together with new helmets as early as Season 1 2027.
