Forza Horizon 6 | FH 6 delayed to 2027 for PlayStation 5 – January release date officially confirmed

• Forza Horizon 6 will be released for PlayStation 5 in 2027.
• Just one month earlier, developer Playground Games had announced that the release would already take place in 2026.

Although Playground Games had previously assured players that Forza Horizon 6 would be released for PlayStation 5 later this year, the studio announced today that the port will instead officially be released for Sony's console on January 26, 2027.

“If you're planning your journey through ‘Discover Japan’ on PlayStation 5, stay tuned! Forza Horizon 6 will be released for PS5 later this year. You can add the game to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store to be notified when it becomes available,” read an official statement from last month.

However, a new trailer for the PS5 version was released today. It confirms both the release date and five days of early access for players who pre-order the Premium Edition of the game. The Premium Edition will also include the first major expansion for Forza Horizon 6.

The expansion's theme is not yet known. However, it is speculated that it could potentially be released simultaneously for Xbox and PC. No such confirmation has been provided so far.

The announcement of the PS5 version came in the same week that Playground Games ironically announced that it was looking for ways to improve communication with fans. A large portion of the Horizon series' player base expressed disappointment with the game's post-launch support.

At the same time, unconfirmed information indicated that the PS5 port would miss the release window originally planned for 2026. There had even been concerns that the project might have been canceled entirely. One reason for this was a statement by new Xbox head Asha Sharma, according to which a platform must have exclusive content and services.

Fortunately, this did not happen. However, communication of the new PS5 release date could have been more transparent and better coordinated.
