The 2018 model-year Porsche 935, based on the classic 935/78 “Moby Dick”, will be available in the Early Access version 0.7 of Assetto Corsa EVO.
  • The Porsche 935 (2018) is the first vehicle officially announced for version 0.7 of Assetto Corsa EVO.
  • The vehicle is based on a Porsche 911 GT2 RS and features a revised aerodynamic package.

As a homage to the legendary Porsche 935/78 from the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this model is planned for the Early Access version 0.7 of Assetto Corsa EVO.

From a technical perspective, the track-focused 2018 Porsche 935 is essentially a Porsche 911 GT2 RS, but it is equipped with an extended body and revised aerodynamics to recreate the long-tail race car that achieved fame at the 1978 edition of Le Mans.

The 935/78, known as “Moby Dick” because of its extended rear end, complied with the FIA Group 5 silhouette regulations and, thanks to its sophisticated aerodynamics, was the fastest vehicle on the Mulsanne Straight. Despite this technical superiority, it was denied success at Le Mans – it even finished behind a trio of older 935/77 models. Its distinctive appearance and the controversial use of water-cooling technology nevertheless made it an unforgettable icon of motorsport.

In 2018, Porsche decided to reinterpret the 935 at the Rennsport Reunion Festival in Laguna Seca. The new model produces 700 hp (compared with more than 900 hp in the original) and features an extended carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic body with a total length of 4.87 meters.

Only 77 examples were produced in total, each of which is now worth well over 1 million US dollars. A variant of the 935 competed in the GT2 European Series in the GT2 RS Clubsport configuration and was also featured in developer Kunos Simulazioni’s predecessor title, Assetto Corsa Competizione.

A specific release date for version 0.7 of Assetto Corsa EVO has not yet been announced.
