- Datsun 240Z unveiled for version 0.7 of Assetto Corsa EVO
- It is joined by the Porsche 935 (2018)
The second vehicle confirmed for version 0.7 of Assetto Corsa EVO has now been unveiled: the Datsun 240Z.
When it was launched in 1969, the Datsun, known in Japan as the Nissan Fairlady Z, played a major role in changing Japan's international reputation as a manufacturer of rather sober, purely utilitarian vehicles. This was primarily due to its distinctive design with a long hood and its characteristic inline-six engine.
The 240Z also formed the foundation for Nissan's subsequent sports cars right up to the present day. Various models, including the 350Z, the 370Z, and the current Z, follow the same concept of a two-seater coupe.
Its low weight combined with rear-wheel drive gave the vehicle a high level of agility and helped it achieve numerous successes in motorsport, particularly in the North American SCCA series. A rally version of the 240Z even won the East African Safari Rally in 1973.
The vehicle's success played a major role in raising the profile of the Nissan brand in North America and Europe. The 240Z became an automotive icon and went on to become a favorite in the tuning scene. Kunos has also announced that, alongside the production road version, a modified, tuned variant of the 240Z will be available at launch.
The Datsun joins the previously announced Porsche 935 (2018) in the vehicle lineup for version 0.7 of Assetto Corsa EVO. Further vehicles and a release date are expected to be announced at a later date.
