The upcoming update for Assetto Corsa EVO continues the recent trend of expanding the vehicle roster with more racing cars to better meet the title's multiplayer ambitions.
Following cars such as the Ferrari 296 and the Ford Mustang GT3, which were introduced in April with update 0.6, the next Early Access update (version 0.7) will include two Porsche models from the professional motorsport world in the GT2 class.
It has now been confirmed that this selection will be expanded to include the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II.
As one of the oldest currently homologated vehicles to the GT3 specification — with Audi Sport's V10 project officially no longer being continued — an R8 LMS GT3 Evo II managed to claim a victory at the GT World Challenge Europe round in Monza last weekend.
This is accompanied by a revised safety rating system for ranked multiplayer mode, following the introduction of multiplayer championships and adjustments to server hosting. Overall, this points to a more focused multiplayer offering for the still-young sim racing title, possibly with the aim of winning over some of the competitive community from Assetto Corsa Competizione.
Incidentally, this four-ringed vehicle was also featured in Assetto Corsa Competizione.
A specific release date for the next EVO update has not yet been announced. However, given the current frequency of vehicle announcements, it can be expected in the near future. The upcoming vehicle roster will also include a road-legal Datsun 240Z.
