The “Japanese GT500 Pack” for Project Motor Racing, released at the end of last month following a comprehensive “Update 2.0” patch, marked a significant step forward as it included several race cars that are not available in other sim racing games. However, it has since been removed from sale on all platforms.
Although the downloadable content pack is not officially endorsed by the real-world Japanese motorsport championship and does not bear the “Super GT” name, it includes nine OEM-licensed vehicles used in this series.
Models such as the 2022 Nissan Calsonic Impul Z GT500 and the 2024 Honda Civic GT500 had not previously appeared in sim racing games. The pack also includes the Takimiya Circuit, which is heavily inspired by the Okayama International Circuit.
A member of the Discord community noted on April 22, 2026, that although the pack was still listed on Steam (PC) and in the digital PlayStation stores, it could no longer be purchased. It has been completely removed from the Xbox Store.
The pack was released on March 31, 2026, and was priced at €9.99. Buyers of the Year 1 Pass or the Year 1 Bundle version of the game also received access to this content. Users who had already redeemed or purchased the pack can continue to use the vehicles and racetrack.
Project Motor Racing has set new standards when it comes to licensed content. It includes numerous vehicles that are rarely found in other titles, such as the aforementioned GT500 models, as well as the Morgan Aero8, the TVR T400R, the Toyota GR010 Hybrid, and the Cadillac Northstar LMP-02.
The game has also attracted attention for using laser-scanned racetracks, although real-world names and trademark rights have been partially omitted.
The reason for the removal of the Japanese GT500 Pack remains unknown. All social media posts about this content from the official game accounts have been removed, as have the corresponding mentions on the game's website.
