- Renewal of the global licensing agreement between F1 and Fanatec
- Development of new steering wheels and limited-edition products in the works
Today, Formula 1 and sim racing hardware manufacturer Fanatec announced the continuation of their global licensing partnership.
The company, based in Landshut, has held an agreement to produce F1-licensed products since 2018. However, following its acquisition by Corsair in 2024, the future of this agreement was uncertain.
It has now been confirmed that a “multi-year” contract has been signed, providing for the development of F1-branded steering wheels as well as other “limited-edition” products. There are also plans to make Fanatec simulators publicly accessible in the Grand Prix fan zones.
As part of this agreement, Fanatec will continue to support the F1 Sim Racing World Championship, whose first round will take place from March 27 to 29 during DreamHack Birmingham. All of the sim racing hardware will be provided by the German brand.
“Fanatec has made a significant contribution to raising the level of competition in our F1 sim racing ecosystem, and this extension represents a major step forward in our long-standing and successful partnership,” said Emily Prazer, Chief Commercial Officer at Formula 1.
“With Fanatec supporting the F1 Sim Racing World Championship and providing an unforgettable fan experience at all our Grands Prix, we are strengthening the connection between virtual and real-world racing and giving fans additional opportunities to identify with our sport,” she added.
“Sim racing has become an integral part of motorsport culture, and Formula 1 has made a major contribution to this development,” explained Thi La, Chief Executive Officer at Corsair.
“The partnership between Fanatec and Formula 1 enables us to continue raising the standards for competition and fan engagement and to offer officially licensed F1 products to a broader audience and at more events worldwide,” she explained.
