This week, an extensive update was released for RENNSPORT, introducing improvements in several key areas.
When the sim-racing game was released nearly a year ago, its AI-controlled opponents were among the least polished ever observed. Although various adjustments have been made since then, there was still considerable room for improvement.
The development studio emphasizes that the artificial intelligence should not yet be considered the most intelligent on the track and that work on it is not yet complete. However, several changes have been implemented.
As part of what is described as a “new foundation for artificial intelligence,” opponents should now have a better understanding of track limits and other vehicles. In addition, they should follow more conventional racing lines, act less hesitantly, and be more evenly balanced across all vehicle types and difficulty levels.
“Our design goal for single-player races remains focused on intelligent driving and zero stupidity,” the statement says.
Graphics and FFB
In addition, the so-called “first round” of graphical improvements has been introduced.
The initial focus is on lighting. This includes improved visibility of the track at night from the cockpit perspective, increased shadow contrast, reduced glare from headlights, and adjustments to the skyboxes. Motion blur can now also be toggled on and off in the PlayStation and Xbox versions.
PS5 owners should now experience subtler effects through their direct-drive steering wheel peripherals. Users of H-pattern shifters, on the other hand, should no longer notice any delay between input and response.
In the cross-platform multiplayer mode, one of RENNSPORT’s strengths, the logic for penalties caused by exceeding track limits in race and qualifying scenarios has also been revised.
“Kings of the Ring” DLC
The “Kings of the Ring” DLC pack was released alongside the game update.
The pack is available free of charge to owners of the Deluxe Edition. Owners of the standard edition can purchase it optionally for an additional fee.
As already announced in the teaser posts, the pack includes the following content:
- KTM X-Bow GT2
- BMW M1 Procar
- Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo
- Nürburgring Nordschleife racetrack
The Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo introduces a functional Drag Reduction System (DRS) to the game for the first time.
The 24-hour layout of the Nürburgring Nordschleife is already included in the Deluxe Edition, while the Grand Prix layout is included in the standard edition. Owners of the standard version will also gain access to the 24-hour layout when purchasing “Kings of the Ring”.
